The Coaching Mission & Vision

Glenda’s coaching mission is to power her clients’ greatness by tapping into their own deep reservoir of infinite potential. She artfully blends her knowledge of education learning theory, spirituality, and coaching to facilitate their self-agency.

Powering Black Women

Glenda is especially passionate about the empowerment of women, particularly Black women who have been historically burdened by intersecting oppressions, and is committed to supporting them to take up space and live a life of daring. This mission is at the epicenter of her work in coaching conversations, social media, speaking engagements, and the various signature workshop series that she has judiciously crafted.

Mindful Coaching & the ARISE© Coaching Model

A practitioner of mindful, responsive coaching, Glenda noticed that a significant number of clients were choosing to partner with her to develop their self-confidence and personal foundation. In response to this need, she designed a unique coaching model, ARISE©, to offer such clients a more specialized coaching experience. At the heart of the model is the development of the client’s deep self-knowledge, which is critical for self-awareness and growth.

A Fierce Champion for Students

A constructivist educator by training, Glenda is fiercely committed to educational equity and social justice for all students especially students of color who are often the most vulnerable and underserved. The hallmark of her teaching practices includes facilitation of their intellectual dispositions, communication skills, and self-agency towards fulfilling their potential and role as global citizens. She actively collaborates with educators who share these guiding principles and facilitates professional development opportunities for educators on topics related to equity, growth mindset, and personal development.

Heartstrings

Glenda is a life-long learner committed to her own growth and development, and to pursuing a robust life anchored in her well-being. She lives in the historic neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, with her husband and life partner of 28 years. She enjoys a wide range of interests but is especially fond of being in the creative zone, literature, traveling, dancing, good eats, and long, hot bubble baths infused with lavender oil!

A native Caribbean “island girl,” Glenda loves the tropics. When she’s not pursuing professional or personal interests in New York City, she can usually be found sunbathing on a beautiful beach or barefoot somewhere in the tropics.

What I Believe

I believe that to be a human being is to be endowed with potential—expressing possibility. It’s in all of us for we are all spiritual beings born into enlightenment. We each possess Divine wisdom and intuition as well as unique gifts, talents, abilities, personalities, and experiences that empower us to manifest a purposeful, fulfilling life. Actualizing our human potential is what we are called to do.

Life’s challenges, conditions, and circumstances can sometimes derail us from our path and leave us feeling broken, disconnected, and powerless. But, I also believe that these same situations can re-awaken us to our purpose and unique gifts. I believe that when we cultivate a growth mindset with conscious intentions, we heal and evolve, demonstrating the resiliency of the human spirit and our own internal power. It’s in the remembrance of who we are—living consciously and mindfully in alignment with our Divine wisdom—that returns us to the Source within and allows our light to illuminate that much more brightly.
